The Daily ONCE (April 24, 2008)

Track #1

John Mayer
Room For Squares
"My Stupid Mouth"

Good song to start out with. The best part of the song is how he sings about not knowing when to shut his mouth. Then when you think the song is over he comes right back in and puts his foot in his mouth. Good sense of humor in the song with Mayer's pop sensibility crafting the perfect song.

Track #2

Def Leppard
Yeah!
"Little Bit O' Love"

Song from Def's album of covers. Not very inspiring and seems to drip with cheese. Everyone knows I am a big fan of Leppard but this album was ill conceived and was not solid at all. But it is a catchy sunny song that is easy to listen to so I have no real complaints.

Track #3

The Game
The Documentary
"Love It Or Leave It (ft. 50 Cent)"

I am no fan of The Game. But with Dr. Dre helming the production boards his first album was pretty good. With this track he hit the height of his popularity with this Kayne West crafted beat. Got that great hook that you want to repeat with gusto everytime.

Track #4

Bloc Party
Hunting For Witches EP
"Hunting For Witches (Crystal Castles Remix)

Alright! Now we are talking. Bloc Party releases Hunting For Witches as an EP complete with uber trendy sound makers mixing the song for them. Takes the dark track and adds a dance feel to it.

Track #5

Minnie Riperton
Come To My Garden
"Rainy Day In Centreville"

Great way to end the ride. This soul singer known for her five octane vocals had a great career in the early 70's before breast cancer took her life in 1979. She is best known for the song "Lovin' You" that contained the now legendary lyrics, "lovin' you is easy cause your beautiful". She had a daughter who now resides in the cast of Saturday Night Live, the talented Maya Rudolph.
