Ok this one was a toss up for me. At first I was thinking there is no way I am going to like someone that looks like that and raps. But she is from Britian and they do things a bit differently. So this is not your average take on a rap song. This song was named one the 100 best singles of the year by Rolling Stone Magazine. The album, while not everyone's cup o' tea (get it? Cuz she is British?) the album does have a certain quality that keeps you upbeat. Which is why I have now spun the album several times straight through. It never leaves you in that wasteland of leftovers. Every song has a certain punch that keeps you waiting for the next song. And her cockney accent is infectious! Here is the lead single "Love Me or Hate Me" off of her album entitled "Public Warning". Here she warns you that "if you love me then, Thank You! If you hate me then forget you!"
Born on December 19, 1985 as Louise Amanda Harman , she was raised on the Chalk Hill estate in Wembley, NW London. Though she was kicked out of school when she was only 16, she became one of the UK's few white female MCs (In the rap industry, school education is unnecessary, most other succesful mainstream rappers to date didn't graduate high school). She has been cited often as part of the rising British grime scene. Lady Sovereign cites Ms. Dynamite as an influence and has supported The Streets, Obie Trice, Dizzee Rascal and Basement Jaxx on tour.
